A workshop for young Suzuki pianists and their families, held at the Royal Academy of Music.
Register nowWhether your child is working through the early books or progressing into the later repertoire, there is a workshop suited to where they are. Both are held at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
The workshop is open to LSG and BSMA members. LSG and BSMA members are welcome to attend, with discounted rates for LSG members.
Each workshop is a half-day. Children have an individual lesson, take part in a group lesson, and perform in a short concert at the end. A parents' talk runs alongside — a good opportunity to ask questions.
Places are limited and the workshop tends to fill up quickly.
Two workshops run on the same day. Choose the one that reflects where your child is in their Suzuki studies.
For children working through Books 1 to 3. The day includes an individual lesson, a group lesson, a parents' talk and a concert.
For children in Book 4 and above. The day follows the same format as Early Stages, including a longer individual lesson, group lesson, parents' talk and concert.
Each child has a one-to-one lesson with a member of the teaching faculty — time set aside for individual attention and guidance.
Children come together to play and learn as a group — a central part of the Suzuki method.
A session for parents running alongside the children's programme — covering practice, the Suzuki approach, and time for questions.
The workshop concludes with a concert in which every child performs.
Registration is straightforward. Follow the steps below.

Graham is an Instructor on the ESA training programme and has been a Suzuki Piano teacher since 2007. His love of music and its role in our growth and maturation have been a life long passion for Graham. He teaches in both London and Kent (near Sandwich) where he now lives. Wei Yee is a British-born Chinese musician who studied at the Royal Northern College of Music before training in the Suzuki method, drawn to its child-centred philosophy. An experienced Suzuki teacher, she has run a dedicated Suzuki piano and violin studio in Fulham for over twenty years. Wei Yee is Chair of the Teachers Committee and serves as a Trustee for the LSG.
Caroline trained to be a Suzuki teacher many years ago, having originally studied at the Royal College of Music. After completing Level 5 she spent three months in Japan observing in the studio of Haruko Kataoka, and sometimes observing Dr Suzuki himself. Fairly soon after returning to England she became a teacher trainer and later directed the BSI piano teacher training course for several years, while at all times maintaining her own studio of pupils. Over the years she has taught in numerous workshops both in this country and abroad, though the central focus of her teaching life has always been her own studio. For her, seeing children grow and develop, and helping them to express themselves through music has been, and continues to be, a joy and a privilege.
Shih-Ching is a Suzuki piano teacher and Certified Personal Development Coach with over 20 years’ experience in music education. Originally from Taiwan, she runs a successful piano studio in London and has taught at Suzuki workshops across the UK and Europe. Her work combines music education, coaching, resilience, and neurodiversity support to help children and teenagers grow both musically and personally.
After completing her piano studies in Poland, Anna discovered the Suzuki method when her son was a toddler, and was immediately drawn to its philosophy of nurturing every child with love, patience, and encouragement. She runs a busy teaching studio in Bristol, UK, where she loves seeing parents and children learn and grow together — the partnership in the studio is at the heart of her teaching. She has successfully introduced the Suzuki method to several local schools.
Sue has been a Suzuki piano teacher for nearly twenty years and was also a Suzuki parent. She teaches piano in Hornsea, on the East Yorkshire coast, and is a member of the BSMA Graduation Committee. Sue is currently working with fellow teachers on plans for the 2027 Gala event in Birmingham.
Jo is a piano teacher living in lovely Devon. She also leads choirs, is MD for musical theatre productions and plays the organ in church. She is on the BSMA Outreach and Marketing Committee and helps to write and edit Ability magazine. Teaching group lessons and coaching ensembles are among her favourite musical activities.
Jenny has a thriving Suzuki piano teaching practice in Cambridge, with pupils aged 3 to 18. She also runs a Suzuki teacher training course, and has taught on workshops internationally. Jenny’s book, Successful Practising: A handbook for pupils, parents and music teachers, incorporates many Suzuki ideas. Her extensive website contains a wide range of resources including articles and recordings, and short tutorials on all pieces in Suzuki piano books 1 to 6.
